Sarova Shaba Game Lodge

Deep in the arid North Country of Kenya; situated across the Great North Road, is Shaba National Reserve which forms part of a trio of reserves quite different from the ones found in Kenya. Shaba takes its name from Mount Shaba (1525 meters), a volcanic mountain that became extinct around 5,000 years ago and lies on the border of the reserve.

In the middle of this desert of volcanic earth lies Sarova Shaba Game Lodge; Kenya's best kept secret. Built in an oasis around the natural terrain of this breathtaking volcanic desert, the Lodge is attractively laid out with chalet style rooms overlooking the Uaso Nyiro River. Natural spring water has been harnessed to ribbon its way in and out, all around the property creating a beautiful landscape. Coupled with the large free-form swimming pool that flows around the lush gardens and tall trees, all this refreshing water lends an almost magical feel to this natural oasis.

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge offers a unique experience that extends beyond game drives in the reserve. The Lodge has a plethora of activities to indulge in from bird watching to camel safaris to the viewing deck along the river to feed and watch crocodiles, making it a destination in itself.

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is located in a natural oasis in the heart of the Shaba Game Reserve or Born Free Country that Joy and George Adamson called home for many years. The Lodge is 314 kms from Nairobi, a 45 minute flight from Nairobi to Shaba or Samburu airstrip or a picturesque 5 hour drive through the curving roads around Mt. Kenya crossing the equator at Nanyuki.

Spread over acres, Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is set along the bank of the Uaso Nyiro River laid out around the natural springs that flow into the river. The Lodge has a virtual mini forest of indigenuous trees, a fish pond and a large free form swimming pool.

The Lodge has a presidential suite, 4 executive suites, and 80 standard rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are chalet style, on two storey thatched roof wooden structures. In addition there is the Main Restaurant, Bar and numerous bush and alfresco dining options. The free form swimming pool has its own Pool Bar. The Lodge has its own fleet of well equipped and tailor madesafari vehicles with excellent guides. There are meeting rooms available. The entire Lodge is surrounded by a 24 hour double electric fence.

Sarova Mara Game Camp- Maasai Mara

Nothing quite captures the true spirit of East Africa, like a safari in Kenya’s richest game reserve, the Maasai Mara. Among the various Mara lodges, Sarova Mara Game Camp offers front seats to nature’s most breathtaking show - the wildebeest migration. The endless plains of East Africa are the setting for the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle where, from the vast Serengeti plains to the champagne colored hills of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, over 1.4 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra and gazelle, relentlessly tracked by Africa’s great predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year in search of rain ripened grass.

Sarova Mara Game Camp is well positioned to enjoy this unique phenomenon. The rolling plains around the tented Camp are teeming with wildebeest, gazelles and zebras, during the migration months and the Camp is situated right in the center of their migration path.

Sarova Mara Game Camp is also the ideal choice for those seeking a richer experience of Maasai Mara that goes much beyond just game drives. By virtue of its location and layout, the Camp offers an unparalleled plethora of activities and experiences from luxury tented living to bird-watching, mini golf, sport fishing and a unique insight into the Maasai culture at the adjoining Maasai village.

Sarova Mara Game Camp is located in the heart of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in South West Kenya, 231 km from Nairobi. A 40 minute flight from Nairobi, the camp is a 20 minute drive from the airstrip and a 4 hour drive from Nairobi on the new tarmac road.

Spread over acres, Sarova Mara Game Camp is set on an elevation surrounded by two streams. The Camp is uniquely laid out over the sprawling grounds that include rolling manicured greens, a virtual mini forest of indigenous shrubs and exotic trees, a large pond stocked with fish, mini bird sanctuary and an authentic Maasai Village adjoining the Camp.

The Camp includes 20 Club Tents, 51 Standard Tents, 2 Family Tents, a Main Resturant, Bar and many bush dining options. The free form swimming pool has its own pool bar. The Camp has its own fleet of well equipped safari vehicles with excellent guides. There are meeting rooms and numerous outdoor venues for dining and leisure. The entire Camp is surrounded by a 24 hour electric fence.
The climate is very pleasant with clear warm days and cool nights. Temperatures average from 26ْ C during the day to 10ْ C at night. There are sporadic rains in March, April, November & December
